causticPhils lack of perspective
causticTech: perspective (or lack of)
CausticPhil is back and if that means something to you then you are probably one of the people he is talking about. Man,all that ranting and he leaves out an even bigger waste of bytes than blogging; PODCASTING. Jesus Christ, you would think that anything co-invented by the biggest waste of MTV would automatically be moved to the back burner. Not just to the back burner, but off the stove completely and out of the kitchen out to the garbage in the alley. I mean, it’s Adam Curry for Christ sake. He’s TALKING AGAIN. But no, it’s somehow managed to get mainstream play. Which should tell you just how low the mainstream media has gotten. I mean look at the people who are podcasting, if you met them in real life would you listen to anything they have to say? Maybe after a lifetime of absinthe abuse.
Think about that. They think what they have to say is so important that it’s too important to type it out into one of the most self-important, self-congratulatory form of “media” ever devised. No, the only way you can fully appreciate their opinion is to hear them speak.
I want to make a distinction between podcasting and internet talk shows like dotNet Rocks and the :Linux tech bits talk show. At least the talk shows have some kind of format, it’s not just the hosts blathering on about whatever opinion they’ve managed to remember after listening to NPR or Entertainment Tonight. They put some thought into their topic or into questions for their guest, they might be insipid thoughts and questions but at least they put some thought into it.
Not every idea is revolutionary, some are just stupid.
