Yoz makes some good (sarcastic) points about Dave Winers arguments about the Google toolbar. The biggest problem I have with the arguments against the Google toolbar is that they are all FUD. The same kind of FUD that is often spoken about Microsoft and OSS. “Sure they aren’t now, but they MIGHT in the future.”

Imagine that standing up in a court of law.

Why not make participation in the web opt-in only too? Heck, you can publish a paper and unless you opt-in to the internet, no one can view it. Does that sound like a good idea?

Face it, if you put your content out on the internet in plain text, which is what HTML is, it will get altered and changed in ways you never thought of and may not want to happen.
