Bootcamp will increase purchases of Windows

Anyone who thinks that the newly released Bootcamp will increase sales of Windows isn’t living in the same world I am.

People technologically sophisticated enough to install Windows by themselves already have enough copies of Windows to go around or have an extremely cheap (read:free) source of them. I predict you’ll see some sales of Windows licenses by Apple service stores who offer to install Windows on your Mactel for a fee. But the average Apple customer isn’t going to go spend $200 on a full version of Windows XP to install on their laptop. Either they’ll have their IT group, who undoubtedly has a site license, install it on their work machine or they’ll have their brothers son, who’s in IT or “good with computers”, do it for them.
