Why is everyone talking about Google instead of Zoho?
Everyone always talks about Google Docs and Spreadsheets, but you don’t see as many mentions about Zoho applications.
A few features where Zoho kicks Google’s butt.
Integration with Omnidrive and Box.net – Upload a word doc or Excel spreadsheet to either one of these popular file sharing/storage sites and you can edit them in your browser using Zoho Writer or Zoho Sheet.
Microsoft Office plugin – This works great. If I had to point to one feature that would make me recommend Zoho over Google Spreadsheets & Docs it would be this plugin. After you install the plugin, you can choose to open a document from Zoho Writer or Sheets in word or Excel or you can add your current Word/Excel document to your online Zoho account. It makes taking work home or on the road almost seamless. I’ve tested it with Office 2003 and Office 2007 with no problems.
Zoho Creator – Out Access’s Microsoft Access. Extends DabbleDB by allowing custom scripting. Do yourself a favor, if you spend any time at all preparing data entry forms for a public web site. Look into Zoho Creator before you fire up your IDE.
Check out this demo ToDo list I created in Zoho Creator.
Due to the environment that Pay-Per-Post has created, I feel obligated to tell you that I was in no way, shape, or form compensated for this post. Yet. I’ll update this post if that changes. I didn’t post this with the expectation of any compensation. I just think these are cool apps.
